Nadia is one of my first five Brand Ambassadors ever!
I first met Nadia a couple years before we finally ended up working together. We had met for coffee to discuss her modeling with me, but our schedules got the most of us and we didn't end up doing a shoot until recently.
She'd sent in her application to be an Ambassador that had me in absolute tears.
She'd lost a lot of love for modeling and was scared to continue after an experience with another photographer that left her uncomfortable with her body and looks.... and Nadia is one hell of a beautiful woman with gorgeous curves!
No one should ever make you feel like you aren't good enough. And you are certainly well within your rights to walk out of a shoot and demand your money back if the photographer is rude, insensitive and less than encouraging. Personally, I'd give the person a few stern words (one might just start with "c") and a belt around the ears.
Just so happens that this is my second photoshoot using the 35mm haha can you see why I love it so much?
This is what Nadia had to say about the photoshoot...
"Going through them has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster - going from getting to stuck on the usual flaws I don't like, to damn is that actually me 😳 There's a handful that are easily my favourite photos of me I've ever seen. It was such an awesome experience though and I'm so glad I did it. And grateful for how easy and comfortable you made it all feel, especially since I had massive nerves after my [first] experience..."⠀⠀⠀
I believe boudoir is more than just the photos and the albums and the hoo-ha (accessories). It's even more than the lingerie and the makeup.
It's about you. You and your reconnection with your body. Loving your body again, or just even more than you had before. Appreciating your body for what it is and how it feels and looks.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I mean, come on... wowsers Nadia!
The black and white above is easily one of my favourite images I've taken to date. Often I'll take a picture that just stays in my mind. Doesn't matter what other photoshoots I've got on... and this is one of them. There's an immense sense of pride that comes with being able to capture someone in their natural beauty. I honestly think it a massive honor when I get this responsibility from clients and models... but also get the massive knotted stomach before and after a shoot because I want to provide images like this one (and all of them) for everyone that walks through my doors. There's a lot of stress and nerves that goes into EVERY one of my photoshoots - boudoir or not.
Nadia even trusted me the full hog and let me do her makeup :) I've been wanting to offer and do makeup myself for clients for a while now, but generally I encourage clients and models to do their own. It's a form a self expression, to me. We all do it differently and prefer different looks. Personally, I love a soft, understated and natural look that enhances a person's natural beauty. Boudoir doesn't have to be full glam... for me it's kinda more of a just out of bed look... give me natural makeup and white button up shirt any day!
You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anyone.
All of the images included in this post are Nadia's favourites.
I've been enjoying doing the brand ambassadors as it's great working with people more closely to find out exactly what they like - what people who are attracted to my work, and want to work with me, like.
Everyone has different tastes - luckily my favourites aligned with Nadia's so I'm actually showing all my favourites too. Even though there was so many others that were absolutely the bomb too! I really don't know how she picked 10 top favourites of over 100 images haha I would struggle big time!
Bottom line, you just need to feel the fear and do it anyway.
Regardless of our experience and our views on our bodies, there is always something better around the corner. Something that will help us feel as amazing as what we are.
And that's what I'm here to help with - every step of the way.
