Boudie Workshop for Photographers

NOVEMBER 28TH 2021

That's right - 28th November '21!

Before I go further into the details of what I have planned, here's a bit of an intro of myself and what I do

About Me

After four years photographing women and men, I've decided to share everything I've learnt. I think it's so important to build an encouraging environment where we can all learn from each other. Passing on our mistakes, our triumphs and little tips to make things easier.

I believe boudoir is way more than just a portrait. I gather a lot of inspiration from American and German boudoir photographers with their moody and emotional imagery. Boudoir is about the body and the minds connection.

Boudoir is much more than a sexy image - it's about re/learning to love ourselves and the skin we are in. It should have focus on the body... our favourite and least favourite parts of ourselves. You can't show a client or model that they are beautiful in every way without taking images that show that every inch is worth loving.

I have experience shooting women of all backgrounds. I've worked with performers through to brides- to-be, through to new mums. Working with couples is a new challenge to me, but an exhilarating and fun experience! I have also photographed men in a boudoir environment and can provide insight on masculine shoots.

I'm well known for my different take on shadows and highlights, as well as my use of colours, to create moody imagery

What will the workshop will cover and include, you may ask?

The Basics

Before we start anything else, I want to cover the basics of using you camera and using the light available to you.

Often as a boudoir photographer, you will be put into environments that are out of your comfort zone... I aim to help you have the tools to use these spaces to your advantage while sticking true to your style. Harsh light can be embraced!

Working with People

Something I do with all my workshops is discuss working with models and clients. There's a lot of etiquette involved which goes both ways that needs to be at the forefront of your mind when working with people.

Pricing and Products

A simple pricing structure is an important part of starting out your business or finding a way to actually make money from your clients and models. I will talk about the structure I use, extras on the "menu", products and finding a price for your services that reflects not only your skill level, but attract your ideal client.

Makeup Basics

These are extremely handy to know. If a client or models makeup isn't quite up to par, then you have the knowledge to fix it. I offer makeup services to all my clients, and I do the makeup myself. I do this because I believe it helps people feel more comfortable with you and the environment... as well as providing a chance to chat and get to know each other!

Forms and Contracts

Questionnaires can be a valuable part of your business... I'll show you ways of making the most of this tool, as well as discuss the ways I present my forms and contracts to clients. We will also discuss other options and platforms to do so.

The Photoshoot

A model will be arranged for a photoshoot at the end of the workshop... I will do a run through of how I use my space and work with a model... then you will have an opportunity to work with the models in turn. The model won't be left alone with anyone, and you will have me close by in case any questions require answering :)

You are encouraged to ask questions and stick around after the photoshoot for editing advice and tips

Spots will be limited to 3 photographers. This workshop will be conducted at my private residence in Christchurch, NZ, and will be open to photographers across the country. It will be a discussion filled day of learning!

COST OF THE WORKSHOP PER PERSON - $400.00
